Carpets and Flooring
Alternative Flooring Options: In some high traffic rooms, you may not prefer carpet for ease of cleaning and maintenance. Hardwood flooring is a nice, durable alternative especially if coordinating rugs are used. Dining rooms, stairways, and hallways may benefit from flooring made of wood, laminate, or tile due to the high amount of traffic, dirt, and moisture. Also, hardwood floors may be more suitable for people with allergies as they harbor less dust mites.

Carpet Types: For higher traffic areas, choose a more durable type of carpet. Level loop, berber, and textured carpets stand up well to wear and tear. Textured carpets resist stains well. Saxony carpets are smoother and more tufted which works better in more formal rooms. Plush carpeting is a saxony carpet with an extremely smooth finish. Cut loop carpet helps disguise wear and staining by creating a sculptured look. This carpet has varying levels of cut pile and also features several color tones from the same color family.
